Golden Omega promotes “Olas Zero Plástico” campaign

Chilean omega-3 oil supplier Golden Omega launched a new campaign to raise awareness about plastic pollution, educate the community and inspire a cultural change.

“Olas Zero Plástico” (Waves Zero Plastic) is an initiative promoted by Golden Omega in association with Plastic Pollution Coalition, an international alliance for the protection of the environment. The initiative seeks to raise awareness about the serious impact caused by plastic waste on marine fauna, as well as promoting recycling and cleaning activities.

According to the company, on September 1, around 250 volunteers participated in a cleanup activity at the mouth of the San José River in Arica, Chile, habitat of sea turtles that are currently in danger of extinction.

Jorge Brahm, Managing Director of Golden Omega, commented: “Our company has a permanent commitment to protecting the environment and the sustainability of resources, which we are reaffirming with this campaign. As neighbors of Arica, we feel that our duty is to preserve the purity and life of our sea, sensitizing the community about a problem that affects different parts of the world today and that we seek to prevent on our coast.”

The company is sharing its commitment to the prevention of plastic pollution, and making information available to communities and organizing activities that allow taking an active role in dealing with this problem.

“Our goal is to educate in schools, universities and to ultimately commit the entire community to support us in this initiative,”​ said Claudio Aracena, Commercial Director of Golden Omega.

Golden Omega produces high quality omega-3 concentrates up to 75% of EPA and DHA from fish oil at its state-of-the-art production facilities are located in Northern Chile.
